Brush with death

Seeing car accidents always freaks me out. But Monday night on the way home from Deltona, fl (where we were visiting faerie_pink) we were seconds from being included in a major accident. It was just before 11 pm and we were about 10 miles from home, I was tired but luckily still alert. We were listening to Elton John singing "Bennie and Jetts" and being silly ( Read more... )

I know that must have really freaked you out. It sounds horrible. :( But at the same time you are lucky, and I'm glad to hear you are okay.

Yeah I couldn't sleep that night thinking about those poor people and wondering if they were all ok.

Me too! I'm glad no one died or was seriously injured. I was sick that night worrying about people I had never met.

Wow. That's awful. But I do have one comment to make about this: "In 2002, the state passed a law requiring motorists, driving by an emergency vehicle on highways with two or more lanes, to get out of the lane closest to the vehicle and slow down to 20 mph under the posted speed limit. Almost four years since the law went into effect, officers say many drivers don't follow it."

I have never in my life heard of this. I got my driver's license in 2002. It was never mentioned to me. Now, aside from moving to another lane simply being cautious and curteous.... how can people be expected to follow a law that they have never even heard of?

But aside from all that...it's very good that no one was seriously injured.

Yeah I agree completely. Of course in the case that wasn't even possible, the whole road was taken up by the accident, then again, I was there both the emergency vehicles got there. But yeah I was shocked when I read the article and found out how many people were effected.
