I got up plenty early today with the sole purpose of getting to my training on time. Stopped at Safeway and picked up some bottled water and snacks in preparation for a long boring day

Well gee, if that doesn't fill one with warm fuzzies... Is this their way of saying, "We don't want you," or what? It's a wonder they can keep running, the way they treat employees...
I suspect that "we don't want you" is exactly what they're saying. I rock the boat quite a bit. Meaning I ask loads of questions because I want my job done the right way. This often leads to inconveniences for management.
It means I interfere with short cuts and blatantly ignoring the rules.
Heh. And the fact that I tend to say exactly what's on my mind when I don't like some thing. Often less than diplomatic...
Better to do the job right the first time than to have to make emergency repairs later. I'm all about rocking the boat, too. In fact, that seems to be my role in my morning sewing class. Thank goodness my teacher appreciates the questions since someone has to ask them.
Seems to me you should be in a management position instead of being one of the many grunts. If only someone could recognize that!
Sadly...some one did. Good guy too. He had me as a lead on two jobs. But he couldn't stand working directly with the other management in the office...and got himself transferred to the deck plates as a grunt. And after that, the only way I could stay working was to accept a demotion. So there's been zero chance for advancement for me. Because of this...I've been applying to other companies...and the shipyard proper. I intend to be elsewhere some time in the near future.
That sucks. Sometimes it seems my attention to detail is what kind of holds me back, just because it makes me "slow" and that seems to be all they care about in the long run.

Well, being as they are probably not worried about replacing you, my advice from similar experience is what your doing, looking elsewhere. And jump ship when you have firm job lined up. Much luck. PSNS just had a job fair, my roommate failed part of the clerical app, but I will bet you have skills & exp they would be interested in.
Your year is not going well so far (obvious comment) - wishing you a change of luck soon :)

As it happens I was at the job fair on friday. And have a very good chance at getting into a couple of shops. Got a bit of 'home work' to do before it's all said and done. Also...have talked to two other contractors.
I find it ironic though...that they think they can afford to simply 'forget' some one with my skills. I'm not a journeyman...but I'm far more experienced than most of the folk they have working as electricians.

I really hope you do find a good job.

Technically...I'm still and employee of Delphinus. So that should carry me through for a while.
And...better to be a bit on the slow side...and do the job right most of the time.
