I keep track of role play news...or rather rpg bloggers commentary from time to time. After strolling through the links of the rpg bloggers network I discovered that the lot of them were abuzz with some thing strange...

....what the heck? So, I guess this means I'll be keeping a firm grip on my 3.5 books, and be sure to keep adding to that set instead of the current. They're going to kill D&D at this rate!

What the fuck?

Okay, I actually read those first two press releases last night and thought it was retarded. I was actually planning on ranting about it here. But that last one...that almost seems like satire. I can't believe they'd say shit like that. If that is true, I'm never buying another god damn WotC product from them ever again.

And sharing a book with friends is "piracy" now? What the god damn hell? I've read dozens and dozens of accounts of people recounting how they got into the game way back in the day, most of them from TSR/WotC game designers, and a lot of them related how they or a friend got the old boxed set and a group of them would always play just using that one set. What a bunch of retarded hypocrites. And saying that they completely ended piracy of their products is just dumb. I bet I could go on to one of the many sites I've pirated stuff from before and find their entire library there.

I always thought that sharing was a good trait. More and more companies want to penalize us for something our parents try so hard to encourage in us... And really, if it hadn't been for friends loaning me their resource books back when I first got into the game, there's no way I'd have ever really gotten into the game. After just seeing the books, I knew I wanted them for myself! So really, WotC should be encouraging us to share more! :P

Heh....actually...as Mark noticed...it was a bit of an april fools gag that I passed on.
Though the lawsuit on the individuals who did the pirating IS real enough.

I just thought I'd pull a belated prank....!

lol, so apparently the last post you have there is a late April Fool's joke. You can't believe:

“In addition, we are revoking all rights to use physical books in game sessions as of midnight tonight,” added Mearls. “Yes, we can do that, read the fine print right below the Gygax dedication.”

Right, they're gonna revoke your right to use the book you bought to play the game.

Also: “I’ve been a premiere store for almost a decade now, and WotC couldn’t see fit to include me? Why the *&#$ have I been pumping all that cash into Maplestory if I can’t get a g*@@$## D&D game run by Shelly Mazzanoble every once in a while?”

The whole article is just a joke to make people feel better about the whole PDF thing they're cracking down on. Don't go worrying about Wizards going crazy and taking the books away. I found it funny as hell.

Yeah, but cracking down on the PDFs is still retarded. It will work out about as well as it did for the RIAA.

Also: They will be speaking at pizza buffets and ice cream shoppes, rather than traditional game stores.

LOL
