Thanks for the extra room offer!dragonherder1January 2 2009, 22:30:21 UTC
I know what you mean. When the dress code calls for a silk cravat I feel strange. When the dress code means knowing what gang colors are, same thing....
Scary! Being aware of your surroundings is only so good for so long when your surroundings are also aware of you! Most people in a dodgy neighborhood are great, I know. It's that darn fraction. So *be careful*!
You do realize you are always welcome to stay with us, right? I guarantee a perfectly safe neighborhood and we're closer to Austin than your Granny's. *bops you on the head*
This just in, East Austin has crime. ;-)kherevaJanuary 3 2009, 00:49:30 UTC
And in other news... we'll add our names to the list of folks who would be happy to have you guys stay. And as of yesterday, we're even in the city rather than Travis County.

Generally, this is a good thing. We get city trash and recycling, and we'll have the option of connecting to sewer lines when they dig them, rather than betting on the health of the septic tank that is under our back porch. Our previous state was one of being subject to regulations without receiving any services in return (called "limited purpose annexation," which means if you don't cut your grass often enough, we can fine you, but Austin Police won't respond if you have a burglar; we'll tell you to call a sheriff instead).
And we did just get a notice from the insurers that our annual premium may drop.

So, Austin annexed y'all? Is that good or bad? Does your home owners insurance go down?
