It's been a while since I bought the Utena series/movie set. Originally acquired it on a lark -- The only bit of it that I'd seen was the veryvery end of the movie, which makes approximately as much sense as a full, overnight Lain (who knew that IMDB tracked anime? o.O) marathon, with a side of crack and a smattering of plushies

The fun parts are the episodes that became side stories in the manga, about weird magical effects above and beyond the mysticism of the dueling arena and swords coming out of people's chests and stuff. People turning into other people and things and stuff. Doesn't hold a candle to the end of the movie, but then, nothing in this world or any other does.
