Well, it most certainly has been a while
and i'll cut it just for kicks
I guess life’s been a bit crazy. Drama, and tech week to go along with it. But its been amazing, I really must say. Aggravation towards the underclassmen who seemed to not understand what it means to be tech week, how there is a point when you don’t have a tomorrow to fix what you did wrong. But, as always, it came together, and its been fantastic. Opening night was crazy, what with the size of the crowd we had. And but for a few mishaps (I’ll take blame where it is due, and it is due for certain bits), the show went well enough. the seniors’ last opening night, freaky. 2nd night was lower on energy for the first half, but at least the Muzzy Boys caught up the energy for our number, and were greatly pleased by it. So down went number two.
As for the rest of Thanksgiving weekend, that was pretty awesome too. We had 21 here for dinner, among them the usual (an uncle from PA, an aunt from VT, my sister’s college roomy from AZ who might as well now be apart of our family (and more recently the friend’s sister as well, since she’s at Wellesley) but also had a couple of families of the Smith clan come, including an aunt from Wellesley (with son from NY and daughter home from England, which was exciting) and an uncle from VT. So that’s a lengthy and unnecessary description of the house guests we had but oh well, im not going to bother deleting it.
The dinner was great, the turkey gargantuan, and we went to Chinatown for dim sum on Saturday morning, so that was great too.
In short, for as few days as that break was, that weekend was better and more separated from what feels like normal life, than anything I can think of. It was surreal (but nice).
Lets see, first term ended since last time I was here, and that was okay. I raised my GPA somewhere between .4 and .8 from last year, depending on what part of last year you look at. So that was nice. My mom didn’t seem to be nearly satisfied though, and doesn’t understand why I can’t get straight A’s (because im “smart” and “intelligent”, and obviously if youre smart, you can get A’s if you try (and thus by process of elimination I deduced that anyone who can’t get an A is dumb, so most of my friends are apparently dumb)). So I was relatively soured by her statement. And I hate how I can’t escape conversation when im the car with her, unless I jump out of the moving car, but I don’t have the heart to do that to her, as it would distress her unduly, though I have seriously considered it anyways. And that’s that.
College search is fun stuff. I’ve got four on my list, and my mom wants me to bulk it up with a couple of reach schools (of which I’ll add some, just so that she has the reassurance of wasting money on some extra applications, with the hope that I’d possibly want to go to them). Oh well, yay for time wasted on extraneous applications. Currently however I’ll be worried about the 4 colleges I actually am applying to (Rochester, ConnColl, Ithaca, UMASS Amherst) and deal with those deadlines. *Shudder*
Oh, the Semi was a lot of fun. Tiring though. Being on one’s feet for multiple hours can do that to a person. But it was great. Dancing is fun if one lets oneself go a bit, something im glad I finally figured out (NYLC can take credit there, though the foundation was laid back the June before). But anyway I’m glad that I went, and am maybe glad that pre-arrangements for that dance fell through, though in the end I guess it didn’t really matter.
Seven’s Not Enough will get our chance to kick Hopewell’s ass in about a week and a half. And we’d better as hell be kicking her ass. Conceding defeat to her is not something that I am willing to do. We’ve got a more complex arrangement than 20 Minutes ever did, and perhaps less raw individual talent (cuz 20 Minutes was ridiculously stacked), but we’ve got talent, and tenacity, and a love for the music. Let’s send Hopes to Madagascar, where she belongs.
Um, a couple weeks back, I went to see the Holliston musical, Fiddler on the Roof. It was a pretty good production, definitely not professional, but for a high school musical, I’ll give it some props. But, going along having attended, it provided a medium by which I could finally see Emily Kingston again, and on purpose no less. And that was just simply exciting, even though we didn’t really get to talk, since she had to work the soundboard.
Other short notes,
I spoke on a senior panel at Freshmen Chemical Health Night, since I’m that cool. Yay for not doing drugs! And getting free pizza, candy and water!
I also get to go to NE Districts in January, and a shot for All-States, which I’ll actually rehearse for more perhaps, since I only made the cut exactly for districts, and I’d like to be going on to All-States.
And thatll be all for now. I’ll work on getting around to updating more often perhaps, that way I can include anecdotes before I forget them, as those will more often be amusing, and less dry than summary.
