Conversations with cat

"My" cat (one of my roomie's two cats, the one who hates her and has adopted me) has learned to meow recently. Seriously. She's 7 years old and mostly moans and growls. But Roomie and Roomie's other cat are on vacation this month, and so "my" cat has started remembering social skills.

Sort of.

That is totally f***ing hilarious.

My cats have decided that they must each have an operatic solo during the day, usually delivered in the stairwell where the acoustics are best. The weirdest part about this is that one of them is deaf, so how does he know?

Perhaps the deaf one succumbs to peer pressure? We had a mostly-deaf cat as a neighbor for a little while, and he'd cry extremely loudly so he could hear himself but didn't realize that's what he was doing.

Another little oddity from my cat: she naps on Roomie's bed, and when she wakes up, she screams. I mean, serious cat screaming. If I'm in the living room, I abruptly hear a little kitty "AAH!!!! AAAH!!!! AAAAAAAH!!!!" and then I hear the thump that is her jumping off the bed. Then she proceeds to scream her fool head off while walking into the living room. She's not meowing at me, because 9 times out of 10 she doesn't even look in my direction, just tapers off the screaming as she wanders past.

I often wonder if she does that when I'm not there.

sorchar thinks the cat is saying SHIT, I'M AWAKE AGAIN, WHERE'S MY GODDAMN COFFEE?
