(*points at icon* That's Baz Luhrmann banging his head against the chart of Moulin Rouge plotlines. I uploaded it especially for this post.)

So, I walked today. Like, a LOT. sorchar joined me for what's becoming my habitual 5K bridge loop walk, and then I walked another mile or so home from a street fair. Walking is good for me; it wakes me up, ( Read more... )

Yes. I am trying to be good and be thankful for it despite wishing it had come a few days earlier. ;)

Nothing helps me like a good walk. I've heard a theory that doing it causes stimulation to the spinal cord, or something like that. Baz rocks. : )

Spinal cord stimulation sounds good...maybe increased blood circulation to the brain, too. Or just getting away from the computer and the TV long enough to really think. It's all good.

Are you a fellow Baz fan, then? I was a HUGE fan, and have recently rediscovered his kooky brand of creativity. It's hard not to feel inspired, listening to the man talk.

Freedom, beauty, truth and love!

He summed up a lot, in just those few words. I think Baz is wild-- I really like him. I've only seen three of his movies, Simply Ballroom, Romeo + Juliet, and Moulin Rouge!, not sure if he's done others. He's kooky, like you say, I think, and a real maverick. : )

Ah, his "Red Curtain" trilogy. Much love.

Those are the only three movies he's done thus far. He did an amazing version of La Boheme for the stage, updating it to 1950s France. The first time he did that, with an Australian company about 10 years ago, it was released on DVD. Well worth watching (I wasn't an opera fan until that). Then he directed it again with a company in San Francisco a couple of years ago, and I was lucky enough to see a performance there. Absolutely fantastic.

He was desperate to direct a biopic of Alexander the Great, and he had some AMAZING stuff for it in the works, but Oliver Stone had better financing and swifter deals, and we all know how that turned out. *hates on Stone for that ( ... )
