confessions from the bourgeois

Notwithstanding all my tough talk about not owning too many books because they take up space and I'm a nomad, baby, or trying to cut down on my clothes (good luck), or my assertions that if my room was burned to the ground I wouldn't miss much besides my computer, I am having a difficult time cleaning out my room in my father's apartment. Perhaps ( Read more... )

If you do decide to get rid of your Dark Is Rising sequence then feel free to send it to me. :)

I love those books and I keep thinking about buying them but never seem to find them in shops when I am thinking about it or if I do its always individuals rather than an all in one so it will be very expensive.

Go on... You know you want to... :)

I shall consider it if I do end up getting rid of the books ... they're definitely in the last-to-go category, though.

i also have shit like that and novelty junk and just really old things that i can't bring myself to throw out. but, perhaps they can make amusing holiday gifts?

also i read the cocktail dress as having "huge rhinestones all over the boobies" and then giggled at my uh...immaturity? one track mind? yes.

A valid point indeed! No need to spend money on holiday gifts when I have random items from my childhood.

I'm pretty sure I remember those shoes, in fact. If you don't take these wonderful items, does that mean they'll be thrown out? Cause that would be sad, and you should send them to me instead.

As well you should! They had an excellent run at CTY when they were there.

I am trying to find things to do with these items besides throw them out. Will Goodwill take lap desks? We shall see!

ZOMG, back issues of Cricket.

I have every cricket magazine from 1974 through 1989, which is no small feat when you consider I wasn't born until 1982.

I feel ya. But no way I'm throwing them out. At least, not the ones when Lloyd Alexander was still one of the contributing editors.

My brother and sisters were 16 and 15, respectively, when I was born. My brother's best friend, Paul, had all of the issues from his youth, and gave them to my mom as a baby-present.

I no longer have ALL of them, as Paul (obviously) had a kid before me, and I sent him back a bookshelf or so. :D But I still have the vast majority.
