Gamers are funny. More specifically, the way they react to the "canon universe" of their favourite game is funny, and though I always took it for granted, it's starting to hit me way more now that I actually write game material for a popular (i.e. ferociously defended) game line. Jaye: Well, just look at them. They all work really hard everyday and they're dissatisfied. I mean, I can be dissatisfied without hardly working at all.

I think when people spend healthy chunks of their lives mastering something and then the underpinnings of it changes (invalidating all the time they spent mastering it), they receive negative feedback equal to what they got from mastering in the first place.

There's a big difference between adding new stuff (151 Pokemon? Caught 'em all? Here's 50 more) and changing old stuff (these 50 Pokemon no longer exist) to the people that're invested in it.

But people get just as mad when we add new stuff they disagree with as when we change old stuff. Not that I know, being as the interim developer won't ALLOW us to change ANYTHING in the first place. :P

I've probably told you this before, but Stephin Merritt is an awesome songwriter. According to a friend who interviewed him for Pitchfork, it's also nearly impossible to hold a coherent conversation with him.
