The article is a little tangential, but damn! I can't believe I only just found out about this! (I noticed only because I was sending someone a link to my piece, and thought, Huh, I wonder why it suddenly has 12000 more reads than when I last glanced at this page?)(My piece is linked in the sentence: "(although if you're interested in that debate ( Read more... )

the link doesn't seem to be working, but I found the article by googling the sentence your article is linked in. Well done btw

That's great!

I must appear awfully naive to you, but I do not understand how you can "rape" somebody in a game. Is there some command you issue? What exactly happens? Presumably not all games support (programmatically) this?

I created a Second Life character a few weeks ago, and spent some time wandering around aimlessly and adjusting my outfit. Could I have been raped while I was there?

I am fairly certain that she is referring to Table Top RPG's Rather than On-line RPG's.

I hadn't picked that up: thanks. Is "rape" a part of those games, then?

Pretty much anything can be a part of a table top game. Its just people sitting around and describing their character's actions. The referee says what the other characters in the world do, like "The bugbear hits you for 42 points of damage. You die horribly" But he can just as easily say "The bugbear bends you over and does you prison style, lol."

Why you shouldn't use rape - without permission

Ok, that's my new favorite heading.
