Soft-Eyed Boy came in this morning, purchased a book and then stood around for a while gazing off into space. My boss came in after about half an hour of this; he asked Soft-Eyed Boy what he wanted a couple times and eventually Soft-Eyed Boy left. He then hung around outside. A piece of cake! Adorable! Kick him over to me and I'll give him a piece of cake. If he tries anything I'll drown his adorable self in the bathtub.

I thought it was adorable too. Given your track record of chatting up random dudes, though, I'm not sure. I don't want to run into this guy at Wing Night.

I didnt' recall the soft eyed boy description. Had he been exhibiting the same behaviour for the last ten months or so? Your description here didn't sound so bad (I read this first) until I read the other one and now I think its not entirely unreasonable to get Mark (or anybody else) to accompany you home. I don't think he is likely to be in any way violent but that doesn't mean he couldn't be scary. It sounds like he just doesn't really mesh well with the general norms for behaviour which is why you were being made uncomfortable, and it may mean that he will continue to do so in a way that makes you feel even more uncomfortable.

*hugs* As I say, I reckon it will all probably be good anyway.

He comes in at very long intervals ... this is the first time I've seen him in months.

I can just imagine the effort he went to to pluck up the courage to ask you.

I can't help but sympathise with him, although he may well be an axe murderer. I can imagine being in that bookstore trying to pluck up the courage to ask you for cake.

Me too. I still have emotional scars from the one and only time I ever asked someone out (8th grade).

I know! If I'd been available and he hadn't been slightly alarming, I would have gone for it instantly.
