1.The Khumi system is also active in Romania and Turkey, and, really, every poorly organized country I've been to. Although here the vans have the names of the corporation displayed, along with corporate registration info; and sometimes posters for a political candidate. Romania is still pretty Communist at heart.

2. Romanian is a much easier language, but a lot of things which look like cognates mean something totally different, resulting in some awkward moments. "Salata a la crap" is a favorite.

3. Yeah, you get that here a lot.

4. Interesting! I wonder if that was what it was like during the Arab conquests.
