One of the billboards I pass almost every day is for a radio station. It has the station's letters on a white background, and next to that, in giant, capital letters: LIBERALS HATE IT.

Just listen to the people who call into Washington Journal on C-Span. Blind hatred all over the place.

Certainly more support for the recent assertion that people prefer to get their news from biased outlets!

Yes. There are several of those billboards in Chicago. I have listened to that station a few times. The first, I mistakingly thought it was my beloved NPR. That only lasted a few seconds. The reason why Liberals hate Mr. Savage's show is because of the constant bashing he dishes out. He can be informative, but then he will slip in several comments pertaining to how liberaslim is a disease and we all must be destroyed. He challenges his leftist listeners to call in and argue his view. Which some will do, and then he will bash their opinions and dance around the subject. Occasionally he will attempt to discuss the subject at hand, and then back to the bashing.
This is the reason why most "Liberals hate it!"

Damn. Well, you're the third person to tell me they're in Chicago now ... I guess I been told.

Who are you?

Well, way to hit their target demographic.

I know people who would see that and think "Shit, that's the station for me!", others who would go, "Time to burn down that station!" and then people like me who think, "Well, interesting marketing there."

Josh here. (Hopefully my hastily drawn, meticulously colored caricature is sufficient to evoke my full name.)

That's an interesting advertising strategy. I guess it does clearly communicate the audience at whom they direct their programming. I wonder how many indignant liberals listened to the station after reading that ad because they like to be incensed?

So I'm adding you to my friends list, since I don't get many opportunities to see you but would like to know how you're doing. My journal is generally boring and offers only limited insight into my life, so I don't consider you under any obligation to add me in return.

Except that I'm, you know, friends with you. Don't worry, if I hate it too much maybe I'll invent a filter just for you. ;) How're classes / whatever?

A filter just for me? It's just what I've always wanted! I'd be flattered.

I suppose my courses are going well enough. Considering I'm doing more of the reading and going to more of the classes than I have in previous years-and actually enjoying it-I'd call it an improvement. I'm still no model student, but I feel better about what I'm doing at the University. My band, the Goddamn Shame, is also moving forward. We're aiming to release an EP around the middle of this month, and we have some gigs lined up next weekend. Unfortunately our web host has been evading our inquiries, so the web site where this info would normally be available is down. If you want, I'll email you the dates, times and locations in a couple days.

For now, I have a paper that demands my attention.
