Yes, I know GNEW is already happening...but I mean getting my husband ready for GNEW. Cosmano has a crossbow (yes I know it sounds like the title of a childrens' book ;) ) and no matched set of bolts to shoot. So I went into production Wednesday evening.
Wednesday evening was cutting, tapering, staining, cresting and varnishing shafts. Thursday was tipping and fledging. Well, I like the results :) I just hope they fly half decently.

The results of my efforts

And the picture of 16thC crossbow bolts I got the fledge shape from.
And yes, I know that most people call it "fletching" but I think the older "fledging" and "fledge" makes more sense since what you are doing is adding feathers or flights and when a bird gains its flight feathers it is said to have fledged...so there! ;)
Edit: Apparently they work just fine. He called to tell me he has upped his score by 15 points with the new bolts and the string I made him Friday before he left ;)
