Okay I really can't carry a tune at all. If I know a song amazingly well I can fake it, but only if there is music playing louder than I am singing. Even then it still sounds pretty bad.

The sad part for me is I am not tone deaf. I can hear exactly how the song should sound in my head and then it comes out sounding nothing like what I hear in my head. It's not just singing. I can't even hum in tune. I don't know where the disconnect between my head and my mouth is but it is there and it stinks.

My dad was 100% tone deaf. He sounded great in his own head but it came out sounding like cats being murdered. Plus, he loved to sing. The horror.

I've been to enough church services and high school chorus classes to tell you that, no, not all people can sing.
