This sounds like you are having a fabulous time and I am sorry you felt ill for a bit but really pleased it did not last long.

Not fun being sick on holidays but like you said, it thankfully did not last long. I have been have a wonderful time interspersed with moments of loneliness & wanting to be home but that soon passes. :)

Oh the Book of Kells! You'd have thought as I was busy doing an MA (failed!) in Anglo Saxon and Viking Studies, that I would have realised that the Book of Kells was so small compared to the Lindisfarne Gospels, but no, I was taken totally by surprise at how tiny it is!
I hadn't realised the Irish had adopted the story of the Children of Llyr in that way, interesting....
You went to many of the places we went when me and my hubby had our 2 week Irish tour - the Burren and the Cliffs of Moher are pretty awesome, even though we had terrible weather for both of those. If the sun comes out I don't think there are many places in the world more beautiful than Ireland and I can't wait to go back and take a bit more time over it next visit.
I think you went to one of my fave places - Glendalough? We spent most of our time looking for ancient churches and castles - if you ever return I'd recommend the Rock of Cashel.

I still have not gotten to the British library and so have not seen the Lindisfarne gospels but someday...

Right, the children of lLlyr, that was the name of that story, thanks! It was interesting to hear that. I love the way myths are adopted by groups of people and adapted. Part of why I love Supernatural although twisted might be a better way of phrasing. ;)

And yes, the monastery was Glendalough and we did a very quick stop, a photo op only by the Rock of Cashel. I could have used more castles and churches, less weaving mills and Waterford crystal type tours but that was the tour I picked and it gave me a nice taste of the country. I do hope to return.

Yes, I was there. I caught a glimpse of you a couple of times but you were engulfed in people so I didn't want to bother you. Next time I will. ;)
