Background:
http://fireemblem.wikia.com/wiki/Ninian Personality:
Though a kind and gentle person at heart, Ninian is something of an enigma who tends to close herself off from other people. She is self-admittedly very shy and socially awkward, and as such finds it difficult to open up to people. Despite this, she fits the Yamato Nadeshiko trope quite well. Polite, selfless, and protective of others, Ninian is a subtle but strong presence in the party, due in equal parts to her role as the token damsel in distress, and for the support/buffs she brings in combat.
Her shyness is not the only reason she avoids interacting with people, however. This is largely because she is somewhat wary of and reluctant to open up to humans, though it is not out of hatred for their kind. On the contrary, she possesses a great deal of love for mankind; her greatest wish is for humans and dragons to live together and peace. It is because of the love she bears for humans that she desperately tries to keep her half-dragon heritage a secret -- her biggest fear is that her newfound friends, most especially Eliwood, might reject her if they learn what she is. ("Doesn't everyone think that dragons are terrifying, man-eating beasts? I mean, how could two different species ever get along?")
Rejection is not the only reason she keeps her heritage a secret, however. Because Nergal wanting the power of dragons is the primary cause of her woes, she fears that there might yet be others who seek to take advantage of what she is and what she can do. Eventually, she is happy to learn that not all humans are as prejudiced, nor do they seek to take advantage of their powers like Nergal did, as she and Nils feared.
Despite her timid and secretive nature, she has her own brand of bravery in her desire to keep others safe. Though she cannot (and will not, more often than not) fight, she is always willing do what she can to help, should the occasion arise. She cherishes her loved ones above all else, especially her brother Nils, who she acts more like a parent than a sibling toward, and if there's anything she can do to protect them, she'll do it. To this end, she turns herself in to Nergal just so Nils might stay safe. Even though this eventually leads to her own death (at the hands of the man she loves, no less), she never regrets this decision. Similarly, during the party's battle against Nergal, when Ninian is revived to help defeat the fire dragons he summoned, she uses her powers to defeat two of the three -- albeit reluctantly, due to her unwillingness to fight against her own kind. But she does it anyway, because she knows this is the only way that her brother and her friends will be safe.
Guilt is another defining aspect of Ninian's personality. Many major developments in canon happen because of herself and Nils, directly and indirectly, and she does not ever stop blaming herself for any of them. The death of Marquess Elbert, heeding Nergal's call and opening the Dragon's Gate, always needing to be rescued by her companions, Nergal's rise to power -- she believes everything is her fault, and her fault alone. This is the driving force behind her joining the combat party: to atone for her sins. Her guilt steadily becomes worse as she falls in love with Eliwood, because how could she ever deserve to love and be loved in return, when all she has done is lie to him and cause him grief?
Abilities:
Ninian is a big scary ice dragon -- well, half of her is, anyway. With the help of her dragonstone, she can change back and forth between her human and dragon forms. Naturally, she can breathe ice in her dragon form.
As a human, she is an accomplished dancer. Her dances invigorate her allies and allow them to move/act twice in one turn. And, with the help of her rings, she can give various buffs as well.
Ninis's Grace: Boosts target's effective defence and resistance by 10 for one turn.
Filla's Might: Boosts target's effective magic or strength by 10 for one turn.
Set's Litany: Boosts target's effective avoid chance by 10% for one turn.
Thor's Ire: Boosts targets effective critical strike chance by 10% for one turn.
She also possesses the power of foresight; she can sense approaching danger, but cannot do anything to prevent or stop it.
