You have to spell "color" without the U - HTML was originally invented by Americans :-) And don't put a space between the slash and the word "font" at the end. How do you write your entries - what LJ interface are you using?
I was apparently writing the entries in "Visual Editor" although there is another button that says HTML. Are those the interfaces you were referring to?? Dont appear to have any headings here.
Yes, use the HTML version of the entry page. (Hint: don't put a space after the first bit of HTML - just type the first letter of whatever text you're entering. Likewise, don't put a space before the end bit. Not that it matters very much, but it's a little neater.) The HTML works the same way when commenting on someone else's LJ. Just remember to always type those font commands; I've been doing it for so long that I have to force myself not to do it in journals like Nomad's, where purple text doesn't work with the color scheme, or with some of my other friends who find colored text difficult to read.
Long ago, when the internet was still new and exciting, and everybody wanted to have their own web page, I taught myself basic HTML from a book. I've fallen a little behind the times, because lots of clever things for webpages have been invented since I began, but the things I do know are enough to let me make LJ do all sorts of tricks :-)
