"Hell is for children" (DH Canon)

Living in what was now Death Eater HQ, gave some advantages. Namely in the form of information. After years of wondering what his father had done, Draco now was among the first to learn of the takeovers of the Ministry of Magic, the Daily Prophet, and even Hogwarts. As well as the creation of the Muggle-born registration act. The Dark Lord was very pleased these days mostly.

There were a few matters of unpleasantness however. Namely the fact that Potter and his closest friends had avoided capture, and that the Order was still in existence. But they were seen as feeble points of resistance. Soon to fall.

Draco wasn't so sure of that, but kept any such ideas well buried within himself. He had thought he wouldn't be accepted back to Hogwarts for his last year, but of course that changed when it was required of all wizarding offspring with magic to attend. As long as you could prove Blood status though. He didn't comment on that either, and was secretly relieved to be going back to the school. At least it offered some respite from home, even with the presence of the Carrows as professors. The new Headmaster Snape and him mostly kept away, but there seemed to be subtle signs that his former potions and DADA professor was continuing to check on him. Whether it was part of the Vow that he and his mum had made,he didn't know, and wasn't about to ask.

It was even whispered inside the Slytherin common room, though often not to Draco. He had fallen in the eyes of those loyal and sympathetic to the Dark Lord's cause. He would catch sneering looks from Crabbe, but Goyle continued to be loyal, and friendly to him. Which was the best he could hope for now. Many other students avoided him, or whispered behind his back.

At least he was of age, and gave him minor clout in comparison to the younger students now. He wouldn't speak to most about personal matters. No, those things he could only trust with the dead around here.

So he snuck into the bathroom, and glanced around, until he noticed a chill to the air. And that familiar pleased giggle.

"Oh, you came back."

"Hello, Myrtle."
