In-Game Character Information
Name: Akira Maeda
Series: Cromartie High School
Age: 15
Personality:Akira Maeda is a strong fighter. He’s willing to jump into fights even when outnumbered. He has intimidating features that hint at his troll heritage. His bleached hair and almost shaved eyebrows show a rebellious side. One would expect him to have a fearsome reputation. Unfortunately, he lacks any sort of presence. No one even bothers to come up with a nickname for him. He finds it a bit vexing to appear so forgettable.
Even if he claims otherwise, he won’t get into a fight without a good reason. He’s actually rational, level-headed and usually composed. He’s rather straightforward about most things. He is the ultimate tsukkomi (straight man). He has a witty one-liner for anything that goes against logic, reason or common sense. Being a student at Hogwarts gives him plenty to remark about, like when a phoenix rides a chocobo through the grounds. If only he could get those comments of his heard.
Despite his toughness, people tend to walk all over him. In canon, he often gets kidnapped or has fellow Cromartie students gather at his home for random events. The kidnapping he takes in stride, though it gets annoying if they forget about him. His protests about the uninvited guests at his house always fall on deaf ears. Part of the problem is that he isn’t very assertive. He tends to start his objections with phrases like “whoa, wait a minute” and “Uh, I doubt it”.
He simply wants to be acknowledged. He will put with major annoyances and complete unreasonable tasks to please his friends. If only he could make some kind of impression on people.
Background: Akira’s mother was a half troll witch with Japanese ancestry who was born in Scotland. Her magic was never strong, so she decided to live among the Muggles away from Britain. They did not believe trolls existed, so she did not have to live with the stigma of her mixed blood. She was simply seen as an unusually muscular woman with brutish features. She met Akira’s father while working security for a bank in Tokyo. He was a simple salaryman. He liked her strength and that she wasn’t very talkative. They eventually got married.
The couple had a daughter first. She seemed to take after her father. Since they were living as a Muggle family, they had no reason to expect her to develop any magical abilities. The mother figured that her weak magic would be diluted even further. There was no disappointment when the girl never showed any signs of magic.
Akira was born two years later. He was a normal, but somewhat rowdy boy. He always made an effort to gain attention. His mother did not recognize the first few signs of magic from him. She believed that he was simply making up his experiences of floating, or finding unusual things during kindergarten. She finally noticed when she saw him make his toys move. His magic came as a complete surprise. She had to reveal the world of wizards, witches and monsters. Akira was rather disturbed to find out that one of the scary monsters was his grandfather.
Akira got into plenty of fights throughout elementary school. He would attack at the first hint of an insult. Most of the fights came from the other children calling his mother “ugly” and “not a lady”. His troll blood gave him extra strength. He even won when five boys attacked him at once.
Receiving a Hogwarts letter when he turned eleven was seen as a way to start over by his parents. He would be in a foreign country where he wouldn’t have a reputation for violence. His older sister was jealous but still willing to tutor him in learning English. His mother revealed that she actually went to Hogwarts as a student and was sorted into Slytherin.
Going to Hogwarts did not stop Akira from constantly fighting. The fact that his mother insisted on accompanying him to the Hogwarts Express led to the same problems he experienced in Tokyo. Even seventh years were sent to the hospital wing if they caused him to lose his temper. It took the threat of expulsion and a Howler from his mother to get him to change his ways.
The words of the Howler did not bother Akira, but the tone in her voice frightened many of the other students. Even a bunch of the older students were reduced to tears. This made him rather uncomfortable. He started to feel guilt over his actions. It was that moment that he resolved to keep his anger in check. This led to a remarkable improvement in his grades.
Akira spent his next years at Hogwarts without making much of an impression on anyone. People started to see him as reliable. He always did his schoolwork. He helped others when they struggled. Somehow, following the rules diminished his reputation. His mother even started to seem less frightening whenever she brought him to the Hogwarts Express. The others simply got used to him, and noticed his strong resemblance to her. Akira still did not want to risk receiving another Howler.
Blood: Halfblood? Father is Muggle. Mother is half troll. I emailed the mods for approval about this.
