FUCK! FUCK! FUCK!

Yesterday hubby and I decided to remove a few trees from behind our spa deck. One of the trees was huge and putting a lot of strain on the patio roof. They were beautiful trees, but they were planted in the wrong position.

Today it was all about the clean up! Hubby broke the branches down to load onto the trailer, while I raked up the leaves (years worth of smelly leaves). All was going well until the pile of leaves I was creating kept moving after I removed the rake O.O I watched it for a little bit, but it didn’t move again, so I convinced myself it must have been a small lizard (we have heaps of these). I switched to the shovel to pick up the leaves…

Then there was SNAKE! OMFG!

It was only a baby, but it was a dugite! While I was screaming for hubby, it moved, so I put the shovel through it without even thinking *g*

So we removed the corpse and kept going…

Then there was another SNAKE!

Another baby, but still…

While I was putting the shovel through it’s head, I was beginning to think we had a problem - like a nest somewhere. We finished for the day and hubby went off to dispose of the rubbish, while I put my feet up for a little bit. When hubby returned, he came in and suggested I get in the spa and let the heat work out my aches, then he went to walk outside.

I was just getting up (thinking of getting in the spa) when hubby bellowed with an edge of panic in his voice.

All those baby dugites had to come from somewhere, right? RIGHT!

There was a mummy dugite slithering across out patio. It would have been somewhere around one and half to two metres long.

I went to call a snake expert, while hubby kept an eye on it from a distance. By the time I got through to someone the snake was sunning itself beside my spa!

Unfortunately, by the time the guy got here the snake had slithered into the trees next door. They searched for a couple of hours, but to no avail. It was spotted a few times, but they couldn’t capture it *whimpers*

So we have a sizeable dugite somewhere close. Last sighting put the demon in the neighbour’s tree right next to the fence - too close for comfort!

Oh, and just to top the day off, today was also my nineteenth wedding anniversary and hubby forgot! I’ve left a note in his work diary, so he’ll see it tomorrow *eg*
