Slowly getting there!

My mother’s visit wasn’t too painful, mostly because I had a crap load of errands to run and I dragged her along for the ride. I did find myself watching her the entire time we were at my house though, which is just horrid, because my trust in her has definitely vanished entirely. After she left, I found my myself wondering what bullshit tales she was going to make up and spread around this time *sigh* I’m sure I’ll hear whatever she has to say to the rest of the world eventually.

Hubby picked up my new office furniture on Thursday night *woot* It’s not ‘pretty’, but it’s functional and that’s what I need. We had it set up by 10:30pm Thursday night, so now I just have to organize everything else (paperwork, files, etc…). I have made an effort - I bought some new files, but as I started my hole punch of twenty-two years decided its time was up on this earth *curses*

I also picked up the rest of Mitch's furniture on Thursday, so his room is just about sorted now :)

Bonnie took herself for walk on Thursday afternoon O.O She decided to sneak out of the backyard behind Mitch and go to the park in the next street over. We found her pretty quickly, thank goodness. She was sitting next to a huge golden retriever she’d met a few days earlier on her walk. Unfortunately, the golden retriever’s owner wasn’t too comfortable with the impromptu visit, because she was sitting on the park bench looking absolutely terrified.

Bonnie is part Rottweiler and has the colouring, but she’s not a big dog (about half the size of the golden retriever), because she’s also mixed with kelpie and has that size. It annoys me that people take one look at her colouring and decide she must be vicious. They don’t take the time to actually look at her and see that she’s only a baby (she’s just turned 2) and is playful. Aggression from other animals or humans scares the crap out of her and she runs away from it.

If she didn’t get told off enough after that escapade, she decided to take herself for another walk on Friday morning. Hubby had taken her down to pick up the prime mover and while he was dropping his trailer, she decided she’d go for a walk. He caught her just ten metres or so from a main road, which was incredibly busy at that early hour.

It scares me that we might lose her. She is microchipped, but that’s only good if she’s handed in to the right authorities. Her nature is so beautiful that someone may just decide to keep her. And there’s the fear that she might be injured while away from us - I try not to think about that. In any case, we’re back to watching her like a hawk just as we did when we first got her home. She is walked every single day for more than an hour, so it’s not like she doesn’t get out.

Hubby played his softball grand final on Friday night. Tori and I went down to watch, which we haven’t done a lot this season due to renovations, Maddy being periodically on crutches, and other little things. They lost by 6 runs :( It’s a shame, because they beat this team by 15 runs two weeks ago and everyone wanted them to win the grand final (the other team is plain nasty, and they’re leaving the association next season).

I slept until 10:30am this morning! I haven’t done that for years :) Mind you, there was a party over our back fence last night and they were loud until the early hours of the morning, so sleep didn’t come easily for me.

My good feeling didn’t last long, because some coward had left a lengthy (it would have almost been as long as the chapter itself) review for one on my fics on ffnet. They hid behind anonymity. Well, I decided I’m not in the mood to deal with cowards, so I disabled anonymous reviewing; at least I get the right of reply if they want to comment like that again, even if it is to tell them that I think they’re an arrogant, self important coward and that their opinion simply doesn’t matter to me.

Tori wants to see Red Riding Hood this afternoon. I want to see the movie; I just don’t know if I’m up to sitting in the cinema for that long, because my back is killing me (one drawback from sleeping so long). We’ll see…
