EDIT: I THINK what I'm gonna do instead of spending a lot of money is investing 40-60 in a 16gb microSDHC card for my G1. It's not gonna be the most effective solution, but it's the cheapest and I still get to play me some musics.

You know what I really don't want to do anymore tonight? Study.

Not that I'm particularly good at avoiding distractions ( Read more... )

I'm failing to see how having an iPod would "trap you in Apple"...
Don't buy music with DRM, or in proprietary formats (from the iTunes store, for example) and regardless of player, there's no vendor lock-in.

And if price is an issue, take a look at the refub'd 120G iPods for $189. :p

I've had one of these for about a year, and I've been very happy with it.

i've got a Creative Zen Vision you can have. 30GB hard drive. Caveat: Battery does not work, so you have to plug it in...

At least, I think it's a 30GB hard drive. It's been almost 3 years since I used it. I also have a cradle for it. I'm making the assumption that you can't listen to music on your work computer because they're Nazis, so external storage, etc. is out of the question.

Thanks, that's awesome of you. Don't worry about it though--most days I actually just do Pandora at work. (Friday was an exception because I'd just picked up a few albums.) The pod was for the bus, workin out, and the car.

But thanks! :)

Give me plug n play or give me death!

Would 16gb be good enough? Sansa has a 16gb video for $90 new.

Hummm

Maybe! I'll look at the 32gb. I have 18gb of library, so it wouldn't quite all fit on there. I need to do a bit of cleaning house, but I think even then it'd be cutting it super close and I'd need room for expansion.

Totally not DEAD set against them. I liked my late iPod, I named it, I gave it a home. We had a good time.

I just probably will get something else.
