This picture makes me think he can pull it off.

I keep thinking of his expressions in interviews as being Freweresque. I really, really hope he brings some of that to the character -- maybe not the manic intensity of Tennant's, but something suitably quirky and Other-ish.

The Pattinson thing, though, I'm not getting. I tend to think, physically, he makes me think of Michael Palin put under a steamroller, de-aged, and given a Flock Of Seagulls wig...

I don't like the look of him, but I think he sounds like a cool guy. And frankly, I'm just incredibly grateful he's not David Tennant and I can go back to watching Dr Who again!

What did you dislike about David Tennant? You're the first person I've heard that didn't like him.

And I'm a *girl*! What's up with that?:P

The bared teeth, the rolling eyes, and the insistence that shouting each and every line=acting. Watching Tennant's Dr Who was like being attacked by a horse for 40-odd minutes.

Because of the way he overacted I found his Doctor seemed incredibly insecure, over-compensatory; like that blustery guy down at the pub who's had a few too many. It made him seem weak and irritating. To be honest, though, I'm also the only person on Teh Internets that hated RTD's writing, too, so it was more the combination of both those things. The constant, immature allusions to everyone being bisexual pissed me off (and this coming from someone who is), the hand-wavey endings...the last series really wasn't watchable for me. I'm hoping the new one will be!:)

Do you have any experience of the old series? Because I always felt Tennant was closer to the older ones than Eccles.
