Kakyoin has the right idea. If we have the planes looking, they're much more likely to spot something than people keeping watch from the ground, and can bypass most of the monsters.

Honestly, unless the mechanics can get us in the air again damned fast, I wouldn't bother having them working on the engines. We could use their skills elsewhere.

'Damned fast' is relative, Mister Hijikata. I could have us back in the air tomorrow night if you didn't mind falling right back to the ground again in thirty seconds. These things take time.
