I was already psyched for this movie, and you make me want to see it even more. :) I've actually seen a fair number of positive reviews, even if some say it "plays it too safe". It sounds to me that it took those story elements deliberately ad looked at them under a closer, more nuanced lens. I also wondered if there would be a "prince" equivalent, and there was no sign of one in the previews, which intrigued me. I must admit I'm rather glad there isn't one. I can appreciate that so long as it's handled well, but it sounds like one would have been extraneous to this particular story, and I'm glad they didn't feel obligated to shoehorn one in.

Late reply is late.

Your impressions for the movie are about right, so I think you'd enjoy it. It's pretty unique too, in that there isn't really a bad guy, and not even the men are really stereotyped in this. They're all kind of uniquely flawed and similar to Nightmare Before Christmas our hero is really also their own antagonist. XD

Ooh, I think you just sold me even more. I love Nightmare Before Christmas. :) The idea of no one being definitively "good" or "bad" but instead everyone being, well, humanly flawed- I love that. Especially in an animated movie, where so often the lines are clearly drawn from the get-go. A movie instead about human people in extraordinary circumstances- methinks we could use some more of that, in all honesty. Must make time to see this soon.
