Why is Gloucestershire (or at least the bit I live in)so sparse in convienant safe areas of open water where a person can go swimming?! I'm trying to find somewhere where I can practise my open water swimming ready for my trip in August and am getting frustrated! All the open air swimming pools are heated! and any way don't open until the end of ( Read more... )

There is always Hafod-y-Llyn. when you are in that neck of the woods.

Little lockers on the sea front - what a good Idea! Even in a group there is not always some-one wanting to be the bag(usually)lady.

The open water swimming where I grew up was usually in rivers. But you still needed a bag watcher.

I intend to go have a look at Hafod - y Llyn when I'm up this weekend - haven't got anything else planned (don't tell Sam! She may kidnap me and shove me in the Booking Office!!!)

There's always rivers but round here it means the Severn and I don't think I'm a strong enough swimmer to try that. Pity really as it's so close. I could even cycle to the gym and leave my stuff there as the Severn runs very near it but I don't fancy my chances of remaining undrowned or mowed down by a crusier!
