I lived in Auckland for a year and it's not as dreamy as you might think, especially if you dislike rain. I'd say Melbourne is one of the better Antipodes cities. Good arts, good weather, and pretty much the most european city in the area.

Rain is rain and I didnt' find Auckland any more rainy than Seattle, which I also love. Melbourne is Nice though, although the European attitude doesn't add to its charm I found
