New Harvest is a nonprofit group dedicated to researching how to grow meat, which I think is a worthwhile endeavor. However, I don't think it's a worthwhile endeavor in and animal rights sense or necessarily an ecological sense but as just part of the overall economic picture of consumption. Clearing land for plants to grow tuna steaks in a nutrient dish would help dolphins, but of course the nutrients and the factory have their own resource needs, etc. But I think things like this can be part of an overall picture to be integrated within our current means. Some areas of land are always going to be best suited for say, raising sheep or something. Its the overall picture of economy and economic management.

Also considering how many people eat imitation crab and how many people eshew eating organ meat but chomp down merrily on their Sahlem's hotdogs, I think that as long as the marketing is done right, plenty of people will eat it-- until the next wave of organic hippies comes out of the woodwork about "frankenmeats"

I still trust farmers more than scientists.

Not by very much, but I dunno. I like to think the meat on my plate was alive at some point. Sounds awful to say it that way, but...

Problem with anything like this is by the time you really truly realize how badly it's fucked you up, it coud be 20 years later.

So, NO.
