I always thought the shaving causes coarse hair thing was an urban legend or something mom's told their daughters to scare them into maintaining a proper shave as I never noticed such a thing... and of course, what's the diff between shaving and scissoring? Conversely I've heard the opposite of waxing but I suspect that's to sell the service... XD

Yeah. The hair can't tell that it's been cut off midway, can it? It just feels coarser because of all the blunt ends rather than the tapered tips you get when a new hair is growing from a follicle.

Interesting. I've considered this sometimes, but fortunately I don't have coarse hairs on my chin or such places, and it seems like a lot to go through for legs or wrists (not the whole arm) or bikini or whatever. I have an annoying "moustache" but it's composed of very fine hairs and I usually deal with it by depilatory. (The one time in my life I shaved it, I DID NOT like the stubbly results.)
