The furnace and hot water heater inspections (all four of 'em) went off without a hitch.
Now to get quotes on French drains and sump pump work to deal with the water issues. It's been raining so much that the water table is REALLY high and water is coming up from under the poured concrete foundation.

Yan Tourette has a gouged up 1/4 watermelon into which he's got a straw stuck and is sucking noisily on the juice.... I turn and say "what ARE you doing?" and inform him that sucking noisily like that is pretty disgusting - which, as an immigrant from rural China, he doesn't understand, or does not care, that Western people find that gross. -

An expensive weekend
Attended the New York Renaissance Festival - http://picasaweb.google.com/dragynphyre/RenFaire2009. A lot of the money I brought went to food, but I found an awesome carved Thor's Hammer for $25, and another piece of the costume (a belt that matches my velvet bodice and burgundy underdress) for $85.

Hehe. My 8 qt tall stockpot just came in, and I'm trying to figure out how to get it home. Think I may keep it here under my desk for the evening, and bring a big shopping bag tomorrow, to keep the dummies at security from challenging me at the exit. -
