Really, it's sad that some people have to be TOLD that raping people is bad. Or that taking advantage of people is bad.

Mean people suck. >(

Agreed.

But sadder yet is, like the damn thing says, people who think it's looking out for a woman to try and warn her off for things. Victim blaming is never cool.

I even bulletin-spammed my myspace whores with this. I thought it needed to get out. Guess what? *Nobody* reposted it. Apparently surveys and other nonsense ar emore important than an actual valid point. Now that's just sad.

I have to say, I think it is a bit stupid to NOT consider self-defense or mode of dress or neighborhood you're walking in. Sure, in a perfect world, I should be able to walk through Harlem's worst parts at 4 am and not get my ass beat and my wallet stolen because I'm a small white guy. Truth is, though, that that sort of thing can and does happen, and that it's probably unwise of me to be there at that time of day, alone. While I agree that it should not be NECESSARY for a woman to be able to defend herself, or to consider where she is and how she's dressed when by herself, the fact is that sometimes it makes good sense to do so.

But you know how I am in my "reality vs. idealism" stance. We even had a lively little discourse on that at dinner. :)

Yeah, yeah.

But I know this.

In an ideal world, I'd have gotten out of my little korean car and beaten the shit out of that asshsole in front of me for using 'cunt' in a derogatory manner.
