An Odd Night.

Now I wouldn't call myself an overly religious person. Frankly I wouldn't call myself a religious person at all. I do consider myself a spiritual person, but I do not consider religion a requirement for spirituality. However, that being said I watched a couple movies tonight's and there were a lot of 'Control the masses through religion' overtones ( Read more... )

Which movies?
And have you seen the movie Idiocracy yet? If you haven't, I highly recommend it... quite funny, but in a scary way.

Oh yea. Idiocracy would be a personal favorite if it wasn't so scary that it could actually come to pass. :)

The movies were 'The Crusade' and 'Starship Troopers 3: Marauder'. Yea, the first one wasn't too surprising about the religious connection. But Starship Troopers? C'mon!

After I watched Idiocracy I turned off the DVD player and Family Guy was playing. I turned the channel, and it was Baywatch. Nothing like sudden reinforcment of the movie's idea!

I haven't seen those other two. I saw the first Starship Troopers, but it really didn't hold my interest. Kinda surprises me that it would have a religious connection though.

I think my favorite religious-type movies are Dogma (leave it to the catholics to unmake the universe! LOL) and, oddly enough, Kingdom of Heaven, the director's cut edition. It had some interesting things to say about religion and faith.

No kidding. I turned it off and all that was on was News. Scary part is that I had the same reinforcement!

I just liked the space travel in Starship Troopers. The first one wasn't too bad. But the second one was terrible. I think I just got the third out of morbid curiosity. It made my head hurt. :)

Dogma was a fantastic movie. I actually like most of the Kevin Smith movies. He's made some really good ones.

You know I'll do that sometimes with movies. I don't specifically like the movie as much as i like the concept of a part of it. Like the remake of 'The Time Machine'. I disliked the underlying theme they were stating, but i was highly entertained with the concept of time travel itself.
