Hullo, just posting another poem, as always; I'd really love some feedback! Thanks!
Title: R.I.P. Common Sense
Rating: PG
A/N: This came to me after reading an
article about an apparent obituary in the London Times, about the death of common sense, hence, the title. By the way, I'm no great poet, but I tried! This is in free verse.
~~~~~
Common sense is dead an buried,
And political correctness, in Bedlam,
And truth and reason lost their meaning,
And criminals claim they're victims.
Chivalry is dead and with it, so is trust,
Our morals are disappearing,
Along with care and justice.
Our loyalty means nothing.
When did money dictate our lives?
Why should we pay for liberty?
When did our voices lose their worth,
And where's our sense of privacy?
Faith means so little now,
With churches becoming industry,
And commitment is alien,
While apathy's so familiar.
Our languages are fading,
And violence, too common,
And creativity hindered by culture,
And talent so little cherished.
Everyday we try to hide
The horror of this era,
With pretty words and made-up worlds,
And paint on our bathroom mirrors.
Is our humanity dwindling,
On the edge of destruction?
Maybe we'll become mindless killers,
And have to evolve again.
So rest in peace, common sense,
And farewell to love and truth,
For what use are they to us now,
In such a senseless life?
