As much as I love to listen to music, feeling the emotion within it and flying off to places within my mind, fantasies of epic proportions running off pure emotion fueled by some song or another; It's in a way false. You're crossing one of your psychological premises with Jap translation now? That's interesting...

And, being a big fan of soundtracks, I believe every life has it's own score. Maybe it's a challenge to find one that fits you, or maybe it's just that no one has composed yours yet.

I generally find the music that suits my mood or emotion at the time, rather than attempting to use music to move me.

Whereas I believe the exact opposite philosophy in that music can completely alter your base state rather than just accompany it. I did a proposal in second year about an experiment to measure whether music could alter the processing within the brain in noticable patterns that fit with the limited emotion mapping of the brain done by fMRI. It's a pretty far stretch though and I seriously doubt anybody is gonna give me the funding to use an fMRI device, despite the possible benefits the research could mean. I mean seriously, it would be like Sci-Fi (I believe it was Blade runner, or was it another book I read of involving hunting down androids...) in which the main hero and his wife both had odd devices they mentioned that allowed them to artifically select their emotions as desired "I swear if you dial more venom, I'll do the same and this argument will go on all night"

Blade Runner was the movie; Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep was the book by Phillip K Dick. However, I don't remember the scene in it you mention but you're probably right it's in there because it was a pretty wacked up book ( ... )
