People still open car doors for "ladies"? You don't see that over here very much, or maybe I'm in with the wrong crowd.

I know my response would be, "Hey, I'm not crippled, I can still open a door by myself!" Ugh.

I'm with you! This stemmed from my Dad opening the car doors one night for my mom and I, upon which my mom asked me if my boyfriend had ever done that for me. While he does open doors or hold them open for pretty much everyone regardless of gender, my answer was no, but more importantly I thought that I didn't want him to do that anyway!

Well, it's not so bad if your dad does that for everybody. Then it's just general politeness.

What I really enjoy, when I get the chance, is holding a door open for some young guy when going out of a store or something. It startles them sometimes. :D
