Triumph!

It was a long time ago in a far away land… or maybe it was a couple weeks back in the kitchen downstairs… anyway, I had found myself in the kitchen with a dire need to feast upon something before death fell upon me… or maybe I just needed a snack to tide me over till dinner either way, I was out of snacks and something had to be done!”

Which ever ( Read more... )

I suppose that's one way to make a grilled cheese. In fact, it's even healthier than the way I make them, since I saw no mention of butter in there. But mine is... well... it involves golden buttery bread that makes your heart go "WHY?" but your tongue go "OMG MOAR ( ... )

Butter is important!
I've used it a bit, but I wasn't sure how important it was since I wasn't using a pan.

I think, since you're using the toaster oven and microwave, that if you wish to employ butter in your sandwich contruction, it would be best to do so at the end of the process, immediately prior to consumption. Otherwise you end up with butter dripped all over the inside of your toaster oven or splattered in the microwave, and then there's the inevitable grease fire, and your house burns down and you die, and nobody wans that, especially when the entire disaster can be prevented by as simple a device as carefully timing your butter distribution.

*giggles* I guess you can make a grilled cheese that way..I think my best friend didn't even toast it, just threw it on microwave plate and waited for it to semi-explode.
I actually made that Monday night for ppl to eat here..But it was a bit fancier then that bc boy doesn't like just plain old crap! Chedder, asiago, some herbs on toasted rustic french bread ^^;

Here's the plan of attack:

I take a pan. I get some butter and melt it on the surface of said pan over the heated electric stove. While that event is occurring I butter down two pieces of bread, and on BOTH sides of each slice. I ten grab the Velv', slice 'er down and lay the thick, THICK, THHHHIIICK slices down on the bread. At this point it matters not which side, since both sides are buttered. And then I slap, slap, SLAP the sandwich down on the pan. Give it a few minutes, check the one side and make sure it's that crispy golden-brown and then...then I flip that son of a bitch over! And sometimes, when I'm feeling daring...I...I slip a piece of ham between the cheese and bread before taking that cooking plunge.

Oh, yeah...I've been there.
