The 40 Year Old Virgin (2005) was a movie I really wanted to like. But I could only like parts of it. Loved the premise. Loved the messages about friendship and opening up. But awkward humour isn't my thing. Still, a good movie.
It makes me feel very old to know of so many movies where "awkward = funny." I'm not some total sperg' that that makes me uncomfortable, but...I mean, goddamn. The guy's other big project, "The Office." It is never, ever funny.
Of course, this comes from someone who thinks Jim Carrey's wacky phase (The Cable Guy, Ace Ventura 1 & 2, his run as The Riddler) was lung-damagingly hilarious.
