I read a lot, but this is the first time I’ve written an expansive review for a book. Looking back over it, it’s less a review and more a surge of feelings and thoughts because Game of Thrones just left me with so many feelings and thoughts that I had to write something. I like writing book reviews/feeling dumps, so I’ll do this every so often when

I also enjoyed her relationship with Drogo. Though at first I was hesitant about it, given that it was an arranged marriage and some of Daenerys’ fears leaked into me, I really started to like it during their first time together. Drogo shows her a surprising amount of tenderness and I love it.
Have you seen Game of Thrones (the show) on the telly yet? What you just described with Daenerys and Drogo and their first time is not what happened on the show.
I wish it had. I really do. If you haven't seen the show, yet, I won't spoil it for you.

I started the show yesterday. Their first time on the show is very different from the book and it makes me sad.

Joffrey and Cersei need to be killed off, and horribly. I agree.

Most of your impressions are in line with mine, and we even have the same two favorite characters! (I kinda ship them.) I'll not say anything about how my feelings toward any of them might have changed as I kept reading, so as not to risk spoilers, but since Drogo and Ned are already gone - I can't really forgive Drogo. He's a ruthless warlord; his job is to kill and destroy. I love what he brings out in Dany and what she brings out in him, but I don't think he's a good man and I don't think he's meant to be seen as one.
Ned, on the other hand, I adore. His honor might have been his undoing, but it was so important to his own people, and so inspirational to his children. And remember, when it came down to telling the truth or saving his daughter, he chose his daughter. He knew the limits of honor.
I hope you keep blogging as you read! Can't wait to hear your thoughts!

Daenerys and Jon are amazing characters! I'd love to see them meet sometime. I've started the second book and I'm enjoying it so far.
*nods about Drogo* I know it's the Dothraki culture, but I hated all of them except Dany when they sacked the village.
True, Ned does choose his own daughter over telling the truth. Unfortunately it's too late - well, I suppose things would've been fine, had Joffrey not decided to chop off his head anyway. Grr, Joffrey... I love that Ned's honor is inspirational to his children.
I definitely will keep blogging! It's fun putting my thoughts and feelings down.
