Oaths to keep... the phrase kept her busy until nightfall, when a chill settled over the desert, and the stars cycled upwards.

Finally, hours later, after the moon had risen and then nearly set, Lorena came to her way-point buried deeply in the desert; Maranjab caravanserai.

Here, she'd offload what goods she'd taken on in her last port of call. Take on more goods to carry on to Tehran, and elsewhere. For now, however, Lorena dropped anchor, letting down her anchor ropes to the attendants below who tied her ship down capably and quickly. She'd sleep on deck for the rest of the night, guarding her goods until morning light woke her.

Lorena pulled her goggles off from around her neck, bells jingling, looping them on her now-locked steering wheel, and brushed herself off. With a stretch that reminded onlookers of a cat (whether domestic or wild, no one was ever sure), she rose from her seat, gathered a pair of blankets from a trunk bolted behind it, and moved forward to bed down for the night.

Perhaps, she thought as she laid down, curling neatly into one of the thick blankets, perhaps he had been furious at her lack of tact. Or perhaps he had been so broken that he hated the world...

What could he be, anyway...the winged man with night-black hair...

...perhaps...he'd catch up...and tell her...
