Trailers that were better than their movies

Avatar The Last Airbender is coming out this week.  I won't say much about it, needless to say I'm hesitant since seeing the trailers.  It's clearly going to be a different feel from the tv show I've come to know and love.  Watching the trailers though got me to thinking about other trailers I've seen in the past.  Sometimes a trailer ends up being ( Read more... )

I don't know about better, but certainly different: Pan's Labyrinth. I thought the trailer on that one was downright misleading >_>

Agreed. I adore the movie to this day, but the trailer made it seem like it would focus on the fantastical elements more than it did. Or rather, made them seem more literal and not in anyone's imagination.

Yeah, I know about the controversy surrounding and I do have to say I agree. I can see where the misconception is since some people (namely M. Night who wanted to do a film adaptation because he watched tv show with his kids) would get confused by the anime style and assume that Aang was white. That doesn't excuse Kitara or Sokka though ( ... )

Funny thing, apparently the movie is titled the Kung Fu Kid outside North America.

Yes, i do keep that in mind when watching trailers. I love recognizing soundtrack themes in trailers! Nyree and I were just talking about that tonight.

Oh yeah, 9 was definitely another one of those trailer is freaking awesome and the movie is a let down. I think for me the trouble was more that they raised a lot of intriguing ideas about the world surrounding the story but didn't explore them. As a result the movie seemed only half inflated or something. It had great elements but some of the ingredients were missing. I saw the short afterwards and it was pretty cool.
