College is already funded heavily by government in many places, either by the federal government or by states/provinces/counties/cities. So I think the question is, is there anything wrong with the system already in place ( ... )

You're mentioning a problem with taxation. If people are taxed in a fashion that is fair, then there is no problem. If people are taxed unfairly, then no matter what the tax money goes to it is still unfair.

There is nothing fundamental to the United States that says such a large military is necessary. The Constitution is flexible, it is what congress makes it.

We are taxed unfairly.

I see it as two separate events. If the money is used wisely, and too much is taken in taxes, we have a tax problem and a spending success.
