It's not really a reduction, I was just trying to make it as unisex as possible so it appears more universal. I also call you "ex" of that makes you feel any better. (and don't take this too personally. If you want me to edit any of this, just let me know.)
Really good stuff, amazing how much similarity there is for everyone. I remember exactly when I realized I was over my ex, there is a weird feeling of calm and peace that allows you to just want the other person to be happy. You wish the best for them, stifling that irrational little voice inside your head that says "I'm not good enough for her" because you know then that it's not true, things just happen. I agree with you idea of not making plans too, the way I see it, the less expectations you have, the less you can be dissapointed and the more you can be pleasantly surprised.
Your narration is quite effective. These people who you do not mention the names of were once very important in your life at some point in time, but it shows how life goes on and you move on. Ever thought about playwriting?
