Birthdays - A day taken out of each year to celebrate a person's life, which is most suitable on the anniversary of their birth. Do we talk about their individual accomplishments they've made in the previous year? The accomplishments they've made over their lifetime? Because it would seem redundant to always bring up the same accomplishment, but

The day is 24 hours of what you make it, Sunshine.

If we began spinning slower or faster, the 24 hours wouldn't be relevant anymore.Or let's even say we stopped rotating all together, and just revolved around the sun like the moon to the Earth; we would be in a perpetual state of the exact same amount of light. Instead of visiting the beach or mountains on our vacations, we'd visit the sunny areas of Earth. We'd probably still have seasons with that scenario though...

If we moved to a planet that had a different rotation, I'd doubt the merits of keeping our 24-hour time system.

A day is just how long it takes for the planet to perform a complete rotation on its axis, nothing more.
