Anybody got any ideas on how to get children to sit down, shut up, and watch their frickin' movie? I'm at a loss.

If they're not watching the movie, it means they aren't interested enough in the movie, or that they are full of energy and need to get it out. Do something that really gives them an energy high but will burn them out fast: a tickle session, a race around the house, anything that gets plenty of laughter and exercise and overwork. Then, when they show signs of being tired, offer a drink and a snack, with the words:

"But if you are going to have the snack and drink, you have to sit down quietly and watch your movie while you eat."

Works with my daughter often enough.

I didn't know you had a child, Yoss. Wow.

Hmm.... I think I might take them into the yard and chase them around. The girls and their male friend get a kick out of me being Godzilla.

See, Yoss' version is much better than mine. I was going to suggest heroin.
