Aw, I'm sorry you didn't like it. I'm seeing it tonight and as huge fan of the comic I'm a bit worried about all the mixed reviews.

That said: BLUE COCK. It's the most important character!

See, I haven't really read the comic, so maybe that was the problem? I've seen two rave reviews on my flist, both by people who were fans of the comic to start with. Maybe I just don't like the comic itself? The characters weren't likeable at all, and the violence was insane and the plot was weird and nonsensical, and thus I did not like it. Maybe if I read the comic it will make more sense, because right now, not so much.

Blue cock is canon then? I suppose I would be more worried if the director had just made that shit up. Because full-frontal blue male nudity is not something to be taken lightly...

Well the whole point to Watchmen was to analyze how superheros, if they really existed, would opperate within society. So these masked vigilantes wouldn't be perfect heros--they'd just be regular human beings with all the normal neuroses and hangups the people have. They'd also be extreme cases, look at the Comedian and Rorschach. They're completely off their rocker. Rorschach is a sociopath that literally sees the world in black and white ( ... )

Nargh--that huge post and I forgot to mention that the ending in the movie is drastically changes then that of the book and appearently is completly illogical. I assure you that the ending in the books, while completely off the wall (but hey, it's a comic!) does make sense.

Ok, I'm officially on Watchmen overload. \O/

The movie was basically fanservice---it replicated the comic panel by panel---and you basically have to have read it to appreciate the film version.

I do recommend the comic, though. It's good. Not Sandman good, but interesting, especially if you have any interest in Cold War history.
