I really do understand why some fandom folk are choosing not to watch SGU, and I appreciate their concerns over the various issues that have been brought up, but I felt that I needed to see it for myself before making a judgment call on whether or not it was offensive or good or worth watching

I am interested to see the development of all the characters, especially Dr. Rush and Eli. Even with Rush having such blinders to everything else, I still can't hate him (maybe.. because I like Robert Carlyle) and Eli is crazy awesome.
I didn't read the spoilers because I wanna watch it.
But yeah, I think it's totally awesome you seemed to enjoy it. ♥

I'm the same way about spoilers, too, usually. I resisted watching the advance copy earlier this week because I wanted to wait until Friday. But after the premiere? I was so wanting more, so we watched the next one just because we could.

Okay, so I read the spoilers. Was your premier 2 hours, originally? And are you talking about the same technology that was used in the 2nd half of the ep, where Rush basically put himself in charge? Or is it some new thing?

They use the bodyswapping tech in the second episode more extensively, and you actually get to see what happens when it's used :)
I feel like we're such fandom rebels, actually liking something that everyone's all up in arms first. I wish people would actually watch the thing before making such a big judgment call aver whether it's prejudiced or having consent issues or 90210 or whatever. Promos and casting calls do not tell the whole story.

YOU CANNOT USE EARTH AS THE POINT OF ORIGIN UNLESS YOU ARE ON EARTH.
There's 15 years of established canon for that fact, and the handwaving was pretty poor.
