Being Jewish, I can't say that I had a lot of knowledge about the Pope and what he's done. But, he really has bridged the gap with Catholics and Jews...the first pope to meet with rabbis and such. That is very cool. My boyfriend is Catholic so I can sort of relate, through him, to what you're talking about. However, my boyfriend doesn't enjoy late night chatter ;)

My husband is Jewish!!! How funny. My husband doesn't like the late night chatter either. He usually puts a pillow over his head and moans until I shut up. lol

You're purty. Lucky husband.....
What kind of volunteering do you think you might do?
PTA is a madhouse that always needs help.

Thank you :) What a great compliment.

I'm not sure about the volunteering. We live near 2 hospitals and I've always thought about volunteering in a children's cancer ward, but I'm overly emotional and not sure if I'd be able to get through the day.

Do you have more info on PTA and what kind of volunteering it would be? I always have an eye open for new opportunities.

You really have to learn to DETACH emotionally if you want to work with any potentially chronic patients. I work in a nursing home, and it still can be hard after 13 years.
You can contact the principal at your children's school. The PTA's vary. A lot raise money for the ability to sell discount school supplies at the beginning of the school year.
There is also PTA council, which deals with the district as a whole.

I know exactly how you feel.

You could always volunteer with the humane society.

Before I found my job, I had planned on volunteering somewhere on post(my husband is in the Army) while I was on the job hunt. The woman in charge of volunteering told me that since I had a degree, I wanted a paying job. She gave me a couple employment applications and sent me on my way. I couldn't believe it. No wonder so many places are hard up for help.

It's terrible isn't it? It seems like so many people don't understand the meaning and value of volunteering. It's a shame because so many people and places really need the help.
