I received an email a few days ago inviting me to a cookout. Grilling out, laying around a fire pit, and playing boardgames. What struck me most was the end of the email where the person picked on themselves for not throwing a wild party, thereby equaling a cool party.

Now that, for example, iTunes has perfected our ability to be consumers of entertainment from any corner of the planet, and have it be of uniform, permanent quality, I hope we can respond by rejuvenating our ability to actively create experiences that are immediate and ephemeral.
